Guardia Civil murdered innocent man on motorway

The Guardia Civil officer who murdered an innocent man thinking he was a terrorist has been handed a sixteen-year sentence.

The Provincial Court of Madrid made the ruling after the defendant was found guilty of the killing of the man on the A-3 motorway in April 2016.

During the hearing, the court heard that the defendant had suffered from psychosis, due to years of drug taking. Jurors agreed that the man was not in a fit mental state to commit aggravated murder, thus his reduced sentence on diminished responsibility.
